Man at sea, never to return. Modern girl on her own rocky island wondering where the hell the man of her dreams is hiding.

When Paola was in first grade at school, the TV show Myrskyluodon Maija was on. Paola was allowed to watch it only by special permissions, because it wasn't exactly appropriate for a child's eyes. Paola was completely hooked.

Lasse Mårtenson's Myrskyluodon Maija is on the most important songs in Paola's life. Paola loves the sea, cliffs and lighthouses, with their forlorn lonesomeness combined with solidity and stability. Paola was keen to create her own version of the sailor theme.

The collection has plenty of classic sailor themes: stripes as well as rope, tattoo and anchor prints. Sea motifs are embroidered on silk, and rope is used to make various decorations, such as epaulettes.

The collection was shot on the island of Villinki just off Helsinki, right at the outer end of the island where the open sea begins. As luck would have it, antique sailing boat floated towards the horizon at the very moment of shooting.

For the first time, we had our own show in New York with Where The F*ck Is My Sailor - collection.
